We have an exciting opportunity for a Fibre Splicer to join our team.

Salary: Competitive Salary subject to experience & on-call allowance

Company vehicle, mobile phone, laptop, and tooling all provided, Company fuel card and expense card provided, including meals and accommodation when working away

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (on-call as part of rota)

 

Fibre Splicer – The Role:

The ideal candidate for the role will be customer-focused, a team player and have a ‘Can Do’ attitude. The role will involve supporting the end-to-end delivery of internal and external WiFi installations on customer sites.

Duties include copper and fibre data cabling installation with termination, maintenance, and repair in accordance with current standards.

The role is field based and will involve travel to customer sites across the UK along with overnight stays.

As part of the role, you will be included in the on-call rota. To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have existing experience in data cabling experience, formal training relevant to the role and have a good understanding of H&S regulations.

 

Fibre Splicer – Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Policy
  • Installation of data networks utilising both copper and fibre technologies in accordance with current standards and tested for successful installation.
  • Work with the ground working teams to ensure cables are pulled and ready for termination
  • Diagnosis and repairs of copper and fibre faults
  • Installation of cable management and all associated infrastructure i.e. comms cabinet, PDU and shelving
  • Support the wider engineering teams with WiFi maintenance and installation

 

Fibre Splicer – You:

  • Ability to terminate copper and splice fibre data cabling for both single and multimode fibre
  • IT Competent being able to operate a laptop with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to operate small hand tools, including drill / driver
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills. A great team worker with ability to work alone
  • Flexible working approach

 

Fibre Splicer– Skills and Experience:

Essential:            

  • Driving Licence (ideally with no endorsements and minimum 1 years’ experience)
  • Demonstrable experience of delivery of data cabling services for both copper and fibre
  • Internal and external cable pulling
  • Experience of working in a field-based capacity
  • Being able to work at heights
  • Formal Fibre Splicing/ Data Cabling Training

Desirable:

  • IPAF trained and / or certified
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Experience of installing and maintaining WiFi networks (not including design and configuration)
  • Working outdoors with direct bury and / or ducted cabling solutions
  • Exposure to trenching and ground works
