JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION

Job Title: Labourer

Department/Location: WiFi, Operations

Responsible to: Site Manager Projects

Hours of work: 40 hours

Salary: £17-20k subject to experience

Company mobile phone, laptop and tooling all provided

Company fuel card and credit card provided, including meals and accommodation when working away

 

Main Purpose: To assist the Fibre Splicing team with duties involving cabling, digging and trenching. We are looking for someone with the ability to work independently, and someone who is eager to learn and develop. This is a field-based role which will include working outdoors in all weathers and overnight stays nationwide.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Policy
  • Dig cabling trenches in preparation for job
  • Back fill trenches when necessary
  • Installation of lighting columns
  • Installation of 4inch ducting using Kanga Trencher
  • Mounting of wall brackets and titling columns
  • Perform setup and clean-up tasks on job site
  • Other general labourer duties

 

Key Competence Requirements

  • Ability to operate small hand held tools, including drill / driver
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A great team worker with ability to work alone
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • ‘Can Do’ attitude
  • Eager to learn and develop

 

Experience and/or Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience of working in a field-based capacity
  • Existing experience in construction
  • GSCEs or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Driving Licence (ideally with no endorsements and minimum 1 years’ experience)
  • City & Guilds in a Data Cabling discipline
  • IPAF trained and / or certified
  • Exposure to trenching and ground works
  • Trailer licence

The long-term intention is to fully train the successful candidate in Cabling and Fibre Splicer, this will involve completing City & Guilds 3667.
